Masses of deep purple blooms with darker central eyes cover the low mounding, needle-like foliage on this evergreen, mat-forming groundcover. Height 4-6".
Phlox subulata attracts bees and butterflies to the garden. Prefers humus, medium moisture well drained soil. Drought tolerant when established. Tolerates sandy or gravelly soils and salts. Intolerant of wet, poorly drained soils. Deer resistant but the rabbits love it.
