A native of China, this shrub produces fruit prized for its superfood status and nutritional value. A slightly thorny, woody, deciduous shrub with long arching stems and silver-green foliage produces bright lavender-purple flowers. The resulting fruit is brilliant orange-red and oval, commonly eaten dried, but also enjoyed fresh and in juices. Self-pollinating. Height 9-11'.
Goji berries require consistently moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Fruit will suffer if roots dry out or receive uneven moisture. Pruning is important to maintain easy harvesting, high yields, and adequate air flow. Trim back tall branches to promote increased lateral branches which offer higher fruit yields.
