Acanthus attracts bees and butterflies to the garden. Prefers average, fertile, medium moisture well drained soil. Drought tolerant when established. Tolerates deep shade and many soil conditions. Intolerant of poorly drained soils. Can spread aggressively by creeping rootstocks. Deer and rabbit resistant.
